OFFICE HOURS: Tuesday 4:00pm-4:45pm, Wednesday 2pm-4pm, and by appointment.

The main textbook for this class is Wasserman's Energy & Entropy, which will be provided to you free of cost. We conclude the semester by using part of Moran & Shapiro to introduce you to applying thermodynamics from an engineering perspective. This is a very expensive book and we will use only a small part. I do not expect you to buy this book. I have a few copies and will place them in the physics student room for your use. I will also place several other thermal physics books in the student room as well. Actively reading these materials is essential for doing well in this course. I will spend most of our class time clarifying and presenting the material from my perspective.

Note that this course does not have graded homework. I have selected problems to go with each week of the course. These problems are another way of learning the material. There are 5 problems selected each week that I strongly encourage you to work on as we go along. There is an exam every three weeks. I will pick 3 of the 15 homework problems plus one additional problem not on the homeworks to be on each exam.

NOTE: This schedule is subject to change
